That is a tall order to fill. Large, cheap and centrally located. Good luck with that anywhere in Europe.

However, as pricetravel has said, the Bellevue is great. It is within walking distance to Centraal station (no carrying luggage around streets) and it is extremely well priced. The only issue is that the rooms are on the smaller side. I don’t think you’ll find all 3 of your requirements though.

As a side note, most hotels throughout the European city center’s (Amsterdam and Paris) don’t offer strict “non-smoking” rooms. They will try to place you into a room that was previously not smoked in. As so many people smoke in Europe, the hotels would limiting business if they limited rooms to smoking and non-smoking. Of course, they will advertise smoking and non-smoking rooms though. Just be fore-warned. You may not even notice.

BookMe.com is the only site you need to go to b/c you can find cheap deals on ALL the other travel sites from there. If I can give you one more bit of advice, I would recommend booking your flight, hotel, and car rental together… b/c you will save a ton more money. Good luck!

85 would be a great deal for that area of manhattan, actually. I suspect that the ones you find on major sites will cost more. it sounds like you are not too far away, in which case the next time you’re in the city, keep an eye out for modest hotels and just ask them what their rates are.

there’s another one on that street (k-town) called la quita inn. I think it may be comparable.

I work in the hotel industry in chicago. I can tell you that $95 is a great price for dt chicago. Call around to different hotels and see who has the lowest rate.

FYI, when booking with expedia.com, hotels.com, priceline.com, etc…UNDERSTAND THAT YOU GET LOW RATES BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR ROOM TYPE. THEY CAN REQUEST A KING SIZE BED OR 2 BEDS, THEY CAN REQUEST SMOKING OR NON, BUT YOU GET WHAT THEY CALL RUN OF HOUSE…WHICH MEANS WHATEVER THE HOTEL HAS WHEN YOU GET THERE.
