Is it true that the cheap hotels in NYC are filthy?

Cheap hotels anywhere are filthy. Maybe not on the surface, but deep down funk that you cannot see, which I think is worse!
You can buy silk sleeping bag type things to protect your face/body from funk on the beds for about 60$

It depends on what you say is filthy. They are just not so nice and all, but I mean, they aren’t like gross as all hell, so don’t worry about it.

I’m sure it’s variable. I stayed a few nights at a very inexpensive place on the upper west side about a year ago. It was about $40 a night. I paid almost the same amount to park the car. The room was small and the building was old. The room had a sink, but you had to share a restroom with several other rooms. Like I say, the building was old, but the room had a comfortable bed, a working TV, enough space for my luggage and a window with a nice view of a brick wall.
It was clean, it was comfortable, it was basic. Not a problem. Nothing to be afraid of. I tried to retrieve some itinerary info to tell you the exact hotel, but I have since deleted the info. I don’t really think you have anything to worry about. Just about anyplace in NYC licensed to do business will be as clean as you reasonably need it to be.
There’s a lot of perception involved, of course. Some people think old buildings are “icky”, regardless of how clean they may be. If you fall into this category, then you might have a problem.

less than 100 per nite - boo OMG. let me tell u prolly got a roach motel. gonna have some huge azz rats all up in ur hure n’ mouth. for real lol. listen boo boo yall will be straight. don’t even sweat it ma. one time i did find a blood spot n yellowish whitish c*m stains all over a flat sheet. that mess was nasty. u could see it too real good - but don’t even care just do what u gotta do if u find sommin’ nasty just ditch it OKAY.
