Lisbon is pretty reasonable as far as hotels are concerned especially in January which is low season. The only thing is some hotels are located out in the suburbs which aren’t always that interesting so I’d be inclined to find something reasonably near the centre.
Perhaps you could look at Skoosh where you search for hotels near Lisbon’s centre.
Keep an eye on the web-rating on Skoosh - any hotels with a rating of 3 or less can be pretty poor.
